EPL Transfer Window Officially Opens
There’s a buzz in the air as the mid-year transfer window for the English Premier League (EPL) opens today, Wednesday 14 June, and agents seek to secure the best possible deals for their clients.
An unexpected prospect is Paris-Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappé, who formally informed his club that he will not be extending his contract beyond next year. Pundits believe the French club will aim to get rid of him in this transfer window and seek to find a more permanent option.
Several EPL clubs are strong contenders for the Frenchman’s next home, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and more, however his high price tag of €180 million is worth serious pause for consideration.
West Ham United’s Declan Rice also seems to be a popular option for the British top-tier clubs, as chairman David Sullivan says he is “99%” sure the captain will leave the Hammers this season.
Chelsea are at risk of a mass exodus, as several players have already expressed interest in jumping ship. Aside from the club’s poor performance this season, the Blues spent £600 million over the past two transfer windows and need to sell before 30 June to ease Financial Fair Play concerns.
